There's a moment that every mum in our founding team remembers clearly.
It's at the edge of a public pool. Your baby has done a poo — you can tell. You are in the water. Everyone around you is doing their best not to notice. The change rooms are at the other end of the facility. Your child is slippery, unhappy, and does not want to be removed from the water. The nappy situation is urgent.
You've been here. We've all been here.
That moment — equal parts funny and mortifying and genuinely inconvenient — is exactly where Tini Togs was born.
Three mums, one very specific problem
We'd each tried everything. Swim nappies under one-piece suits, nappy covers, separate rashies — none of it solved the core issue, which was that getting a baby in and out of their swimwear quickly, cleanly, and without distress required either a full wardrobe change or a level of flexibility that most humans don't have.
We wanted something that looked beautiful, kept kids UV-protected, and could be unzipped for a nappy change without removing the whole suit. Simple, in theory. Surprisingly hard to find, in practice.
So we made it.
The bits that took longer than expected
Getting the zip right took months. It needed to be smooth enough for a mum to operate one-handed while managing a toddler, durable enough to survive a season of chlorine and salt water, and gentle enough that it couldn't scratch sensitive baby skin. We went through a lot of prototypes.
The fabric was its own adventure. UPF 50+ protection, soft enough for sensitive skin, quick-drying, and colourfast through a season of swimming. We tested more fabrics than we can count.
And the sizing. Children's sizing is famously inconsistent across brands, and we wanted our size guide to actually mean something — to give parents confidence that if they bought the right size for their child, it would fit the way they expected.
What we've learned from our customers
The feedback that means the most to us isn't the five-star reviews, as much as we love them. It's the messages. The "I just want to say this has changed our pool days" and the "my son usually screams through nappy changes at the pool and this morning he didn't even notice" messages. The mums who've been in that same moment at the pool's edge and found something that made it easier.
That's the whole point. That was always the whole point.
Where we're headed
More styles, more UV-protective options, and — yes — the Splashie Carrier, because getting to the pool with everything you need is just as important as the swimwear itself. We're a small team and we're building something we genuinely believe in, one pool day at a time.
Thank you for being here. We're so glad you found us.
