There's a moment for any small brand when you stop wondering whether your product is actually working — because the inbox tells you. The reviews tell you. The DMs at 11pm from a mum still up in a pool change room tell you.
So we thought we'd pull a few of those moments together. Not the polished testimonials. The real ones. The bit-too-honest ones. The ones where you can tell a tired mum just had her day saved.
"The zip is GENIUS"
This one comes up so often we should probably just laminate it. Gretta wrote in about her Sailor Suit and called the zip "a gamechanger for nappy changes." She also pointed out something we didn't even design for: "dirty marks rub straight off them in the water because of the texture." Apparently sand, mud and the mystery brown smear from the picnic blanket all give up easily on a Toggie.
Jayde T., reviewing the Teddy Onesie, said it more directly: "These bathers are the bathers I never knew I needed." That sentence basically lives rent-free in our office now.
"Finally — a zip suit that actually fits older kids"
One thing we hear a lot, especially from mums of toddlers and preschoolers, is how hard it is to find a properly designed zip swimsuit once kids age out of the under-1 range. Courtney summed it up: "Not much options out there for the older sizes in this zip design… but this one all the way and easy to take off. Perfect."
It's the kind of feedback that drove us to extend our sizing in the first place. We didn't want a zip suit that only worked for newborns and tiny babies. Toddlers wee. Toddlers refuse. Toddlers need to be unzipped halfway through swim class because suddenly, urgently, they need a wee.
"It's the only thing that survived the entire summer"
Emma E. summed up something that comes up a lot: "I am looking forward to easy nappy changes this summer with a busy 2 year old at the beach! Would defiantly buy each summer as she grows out of it." Mums consistently tell us their Toggies last full summers, then get handed down to younger siblings, then reappear in cousin photos two years later.
Considering most kids' swimwear bags out and goes saggy after about ten washes, we'll take that as a compliment.
"Why didn't anyone do this sooner?"
Honestly? We ask ourselves the same thing. Chantelle S. wrote, "Not only do they look super cute on but these makes it SO much easier to change bub when he has been swimming in wet bathers etc." That sentence is basically the entire Tini Togs business plan in one DM.
The bits that aren't all sunshine
We try to share the not-perfect feedback too. The most common one is sizing — some mums find their kids run between sizes, especially in the leg, and our latest release tweaked the elastic in response. We've also had requests for more limited prints, more onesie colours, more boyish patterns. Most of those are already in development.
And occasionally, we get a request for something we're never going to make — like fluoro green with skulls. We see you. We love you. We're still saying no.
Got a Toggie review of your own?
Tag us at @tini.togs on Instagram or drop a review on the product page. The reviews are how we keep getting better — and how other mums decide whether to take the plunge. Bonus points if you include a photo of the kid actually wearing it, mid-disaster.
That's our favourite kind of review.
